How Arsenal can revive Nicolas Pepe’s career

Arsenal record-breaking Nicolas Pepe failed to secure a place in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI and his playing time is now limited to the Carabao Cup and substitute appearances.

The belief was that after a preseason campaign and a promising end to last season, the Ivorian winger would finally be settled and the Gunners would finally start reaping their £ 72million investment.

Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe managed to cement themselves in the starting XI left and right, leaving Arsenal’s record on the bench.

Pepe’s problem has been inconsistency since joining Lille in 2019 and his style of play has been frustrating at times.

Rumors circulating suggest the 26-year-old could be sold for as little as £ 25million.

If Arsenal decided to sell Pepe now they would not get back half of what they spent and let alone the club who have yet to make the installment payments.

Perhaps a move away from the Premier League loan would help rekindle his form and the Gunners could recoup at least half of what they spent if he impresses on loan.

Arsenal’s absence in a European competition has limited Pepe’s possible playing time and a continued lack of playing time is shaking his confidence.

If he plays regularly somewhere it will boost his confidence and he could regain the kind of form that saw him score 16 goals last season or the 23 goals he scored for Lille before moving to north London . He then returns as the best player or Arsenal takes advantage of him.
